The Danish Claim is a two-player board game set in an alternate version of Scandinavia in 2012. In this tense world, political conflicts and military buildup around the Öresund Strait have erupted into open warfare between Denmark and Sweden.

As tensions rise in the Baltic region, Sweden implements enhanced security measures in the Strait, mobilising coastal defences and naval presence. However, Denmark and other European nations see these actions as a threat to free navigation and regional trade, leading to a diplomatic and military crisis that spirals out of control.

In The Danish Claim, players assume the roles of commanders of Danish and Swedish forces during the early days of the conflict in southern Sweden. The gameplay emphasises tactical operations such as amphibious assaults, coastal defence strategies, air superiority, mobilisation, reconnaissance, logistics, and gaining control over vital transit routes in the Öresund.

This game aims to provide a modern military simulation experience, drawing on real-world Scandinavian defence issues and classic elements of hex-and-counter wargaming.

Stay tuned over the next few months as we’ll be sharing more details about the game’s mechanics, scenarios, research, and artwork as we work toward bringing it to life.

Stay tuned!
