Planned Movement Production began in the mid-1980s when we started experimenting with miniature games like FireFly, Challenger 2000, Fire Fight, and a little-known game at the time called Warhammer 40K. We also created a lot of homemade games—roleplaying games, board games, and miniature games. One game we tried to play often was Phoenix Command. It was incredibly complex and nearly unplayable, but we enjoyed it or thought we did.

In addition to playing games, we wrote rules, scenarios, roleplaying games, and more. We were never satisfied with existing games, so we created our own versions. At some point, I decided to make up a name for the “company” behind our games and ideas. I’m not sure why—maybe to make it feel more official or because I dreamed of starting my own gaming company one day.

Coming up with a name was tricky, but eventually, I remembered a rule from Phoenix Command called Planned Movement. It was about setting a fixed path toward a goal and sticking to it no matter what. That was a fitting name for the company I wanted to create. So, Planned Movement Production was born. Whether I’ve achieved the original goal is unclear, but the name has stayed with me ever since.
